We are now looking for a Designer/Engineer to join our engineering department in Linköping.
This is a broad designer role where you work with mechanical design in both 2D and 3D, while maintaining a clear focus on manufacturability and how our products function in real-world manufacturing.
The role involves being part of the entire chain from design and product development to ensuring that the solutions work in production. You will become a key link between design and production, working closely with two other designers, sharing responsibilities and supporting each other in daily tasks. All three in the team work with design, product development, and production-related issues, but in this role, there is an extra focus on ensuring that the designs are robust, cost-effective, and adapted for production.
You will also play an important role in driving smaller improvement initiatives and contributing to sub-projects related to both product and production.
Your responsibilitiesThe role combines design, production engineering, and preparation. Examples of tasks include:
- Design and update drawing documentation in CAD (Autodesk Inventor 3D and AutoCAD 2D)
- Work with article structure and technical documentation in PLM systems
- Ensure manufacturability (DFM) and cost-effective design
- Participate in improvement work related to products, tools, and production
- Support production, supply chain, quality, lab, and sales in technical matters
- Participate in work regarding tools, fixtures, and production equipment
- Contribute to verifications, tests, and technical evaluations
- Take responsibility for sub-projects in the development and customer projects you are involved in
An important part of the role is close collaboration with production, where a key aspect is going out into the factory yourself, asking questions, and translating them into design work.
Who are you?We believe you are a designer who thrives at the intersection of design, production, and product development. You enjoy understanding how things work in practice and are driven by creating solutions that work all the way from drawing to finished product.
To fit the role, it is important that you are structured, unpretentious, and solution-oriented, and thrive in a role where you get to take responsibility, drive sub-projects, and have many contact points within the organization.
We would like you to have:
- An engineering degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Experience in mechanical design and technical drawing
- Good knowledge of CAD
- Understanding of manufacturing methods within mechanics/sheet metal
- Experience with technical documentation and change management in PDM/PLM
- Good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Meritorious:
- Experience from manufacturing industry in broad technical roles
- Experience in manufacturability, DFM, or industrialization
- Experience with tools, fixtures, or production equipment
- Experience in improvement work in production or product development
- Experience in sub-project leadership or technical responsibility in projects
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., M3, IFS, or Monitor)
With us, you get a role where design and production meet for real – and where your work has a direct impact in the factory.
You will become part of a smaller, tightly knit engineering team with short decision-making paths and close collaboration between functions.
Here is what we offer:
- A comprehensive and varied technical role
- Close contact with production and fast feedback loops
- Opportunity to influence both products and working methods
- Great personal responsibility in a developing business
- An experienced and helpful team where people support each other
This is a role for you who wants the big picture – from design to real manufacturing.
